Hands-On Nature Photography Outing

Winter is a time when most photographers hibernate and wait until spring. But, wintertime is a wonderous time to shoot. As long as you dress warmly, then there’s really no difference than shooting in warm weather (except that it’s a harder handle your camera with you gloves on!). But, there is a HUGE difference when it comes to subject matter!

Imagine magical ice sculptures along the crevices of a winter stream, oak leaves suspended in bubbles of ice, or snow that has blanketed the trees. Good luck finding this stuff in the summer!  (Gift Cards for this outing are available.)

During this Learning Adventure, Mike will give you guidance and help you set up your shots. As long as you stay with the group, he’ll provide you with help on exposure, composition, or whatever you need. You’ll also have the option to show off and get valuable feedback on your spiffy new images during a future photo feedback session, where Mike will share constructive insights and, if necessary, suggest improvements.

We will begin in the late afternoon and shoot until sunset. Sun or no sun, snow or no snow, there will be a lot to shoot.

NOTE: These outings are planned several months in advance based on the best available knowledge and history, but there is no way to tell what the conditions will actually be like. So, it’ll happen no matter what, and we’ll make the most of it!

Since our outings are about taking pictures, you need to be somewhat comfortable with your camera and how it works so that you can better enjoy the experience. Please read the Class Requirements for this course and feel free to email us or give us a call at 630-852-8448 if you have any questions.

The photo shoot will be held at a location, which will be announced after you’ve been accepted into the course. We will shoot for approximately four hours, depending on the feeling of the group. For an additional fee, a very affordable photo feedback session will be scheduled at a later date, where you’ll receive valuable feedback on any of your pictures.
